Tuna Fishing at Oregon Inlet on May 5, 2007

Report posted by Capt. Lindsay Fuller of the June Bug on 5/10/06

The weather goddess was kind on Saturday, May 5 and June Bug took Dr. Nick Rausch and his party tuna fishing out of Oregon Inlet, NC. Sea conditions were good with a 10 to 15 knot East NorthEast breeze, a very fishable wind at Oregon Inlet. The wind moved more easterly as the day went on.

Fishing was spotty though. We chose to go north of the point where a large part of the charter fleet headed but it turned out that the hot bite was 20 miles of so south. The pod of fish that made up that morning bite to the south of us moved north with the Gulf Stream and we had a mini-bite around 2 p.m.

The whole fleet stayed late since the day had been so poor and did pick up fish at the tail end of the day.

Everyone had a great time and that was the best that could have happened.

We have another trip schedule at Oregon Inlet soon and will bring June Bug back to New Jersey for the summer right after Memorial Day.

Good dates are still available. Call me on my cell at 609-685-2839 to discuss your charter trip.
