Report posted by Capt. Lindsay Fuller of the June Bug on 8/12/09 It was all lawyers who fished on June Bug on Monday. Tom, Mike, and Charles all from Pennsylvania. Well, Mike admitted he is a recovering lawyer. He is now a Justice on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. June Bug was honored to have His Honor on board. The water temps sent us to Hudson Canyon. We left prior to midnight Sunday night and were fishing at 4:30. We found fish right at the drop at 100 fathoms but the fish were small Yellowfins. We likely caught about 10 Yellowfins but only 3 were keepers all day. The funny thing was, these little guys hit and bent the rods like far larger fish. Around lunchtime, we hooked a larger fish but it got off just as Capt Nate Figley, the mate, touched the leader. The fish had bent a 12/0 forged carbon steel hook. The fish looked to be about 80 pounds or so. Weed lines formed uin the afternoon and we picked up a half dozen nice Mahi. We heard on the radio of no Big Eyes caught Monday. There may have been some caught after we left at 2 p.m. for home. Sea conditions were good. The wind came up a little mid-day but laid down again for the ride home. The tuna are here so let's go fishin'! Call me at 609-685-2839 to check on availability. |
