Report posted by Capt. Lindsay Fuller of the June Bug on 6/29/09 June Bug left Little Egg Inlet about 2 a.m. headed for the Lindenkohl Canyon. We were fishing at 5:30 and had fish on 20 seconds later, literally. The first fish we Skippies but they were the shiniest Skippies we have seen for a while and will make good strip baits. We kept a half dozen or so. We fished from insifde the 100 fathom point out to the 500 fathom line. Nothing. Not a bump. We worked back into the 100 and ran the 100 around toward the Carteret Canyon a few miles to the north. Zig zagging from the 50 fathom line out to 300 fathoms produced nothing. We worked the 100 tip of the Carteret pretty heavy and then worked out way back down the 100 toward the Lindenkohl again. We finally found a pod of baby Yellowfins. Catching fish from various pods, none were limit size and all were released. Getting back to the 100 tip of the Lindenkohl, we trolled toward home since we have saved many a day back in the shallorwer water. Sure enough, we started catching little guys again but 3 were keepers. Sea conditions were gorgeous. We heard lots of people on the radio complaining about the heavy seas. Where they were was not where we were, that's for sure. Capt. Lindsay Fuller 609-685-2839 |
